Deckbuilder ‘Wildfrost’ marks Balatro Crossover in new update, here are the patch notes

The lovable rogue deck builder Wildfrost has achieved a crossover with Balatro as part of its ‘Friends and Foes’ update.

This update slipped onto Steam earlier this month, but it’s just rolled out to Switch this week — just in time for Europe’s summer eShop sales, we might add.

So what’s involved? Of course we’re excited to see Balatro content in this one, as a special Jimbo the Joker charm is now unlockable in your runs, but there are a host of other changes that promise to change the way we play. This includes 13 new enemies, 20 new player cards, a new pet, bug fixes and much more.

Publisher Chucklefish shared the full Switch patch notes on the official Wildfrost Wiki, and we’ve put them together for you to check out below.

New features

  • 13 new enemies in 4 new battles
  • 20 new player cards
  • 13 new companions and 1 new pet
  • 12 new Charms
  • 12 new challenges
  • 4 new sun bells
  • Zoomlins!

Changes

  • Sun Bell of Fellowship now also increases Charm Limit
  • Cards that make copies of other cards no longer copy negative status effects
  • Tip for “copy” when you control a card with a “copy” effect.
  • “Increase by 1 on hit” effects now increase all application effects
  • You now draw a full hand after the Crown phase even if you drew/created new cards during the phase
  • Removed number from Vase Lumin by applying Lumin
  • You now gain a sun vault after the Eye of the Storm if you’re continuing to the Heart of the Storm
  • Blood Bell now reduces the health of your highest health card after each Boss Battle
  • New Swarm Bell added to replace Swarm Bell

Card balance

  • Added attack for Longshot drivers
  • Chompom – Reduced Shell start to 2
  • Dimona – Applies Demonization to enemies when they are hit by Items. Increase attack to 2
  • Tinkerson Jr. – Increase attack to 3
  • Kernel – Reduced shell given in 2
  • Pyra – Gives Spice back to ally instead of forward, reduces Spice given to 4, reduces Health to 6 and counter to 4
  • Devicro – Increase health to 7
  • Shen – Increased burning applied to 2
  • Groff – Increase health to 6
  • Kreggo – Increase attack to 2
  • Tiger – Increase health to 5
  • Foggy Brew – Removed Aimless
  • Spike – Health reduction to 7
  • Loki – Increase attack to 3
  • Numskull – Block reduced to 8 and Health increased to 30
  • Tentickle – Reduced counter to 4, reduced attack to 4

Bug fixes

  • Fixed sometimes being able to buy gamepad items in the shop while the backpack is open
  • Fixed Frost Guardian’s Shade Wisp copying and instant attack on allies
  • Fixed Pootie not giving Frenzy to allies with no attack value
  • Fixed Shroominator’s effect not being affected by Ink
  • Fix Faith not working with Summons that have no Attack value
  • Fixed support with Leech + Teeth + Overburn
  • Fixed “While Active” effects lingering when the Ink’d unit is recalled
  • Fixed the ability to place wreaths on the Goop River & Broken Vase
  • Fixed ink countdown on hand
  • Fixed issue with best win time stat
  • Fixed Trigger when hit not interrupting Frenzy like Smackback does
  • The fixed spice is removed after withdrawal
  • Fixed burn causing incorrect damage if applied at the same time health is reduced below the current amount of excess burn

It all seems like a pretty good excuse to dive back into Wildfrost – unless this new Balatro content ties us back to the chips. Both games are now available on the European eShop at a discounted summer sale price.
